Sexting case.

This article was pretty interesting. It was about a girl who had sent a boy she liked a naked picture of herself. Then the boy forwarded it to her friend who then labeled it and sent out a mass text saying"HO ALERT". It's hoe* but anyway, The article was shocking that they were only in eighth grade. It makes sense. Everybody has cell phones these days i didn't even have picture mail until 10th or 11th grade... and I got my first cell phone at the end of seventh grade.

FRIED TWINKIES!

I liked the shots wehn they were cooking the twinkies. Also the shot of him yelling "COME GET YOUR DEEP FRIED TWINKIES!" Seems like a good man. I wish I knew him.

Demo Reel

This was a bunch of different stories that somebody put together. My favorite one was the bass fishing one. It was a good story. And I also like fishing.

Man and a goose form unlikely friendship

So, this story was about a goose who fell in love with a man. He is an older man who goes around Echo Park on his scooter. One day the goose (Maria) started to just follow him around. Ever since then they walk around the park together. I think this story is really unique. I've never heard of a goose falling in love with a man. It made me smile.

Story PDA

Alex Reagles
Broadcast Journalism Story
Topic: Public Display of Affection (PDA)
Angle: PDA is Everywhere

B-Roll

A time lapse down the hallway.
  voice over.

A couple standing really close to each other in the hall.

A person slowly peeking over at the couple standing really close.

A shot of Jon talking.

Shot of school, Mall, outside a movie theater, and at a park with a bench.

A shot of Nate

Multiple people’s faces talking

Danny talking and demonstrating.

Jon shaking his head

Stand up walking down the hall end up by a couple.
A-Roll
When you walk through any high school throughout America it seems as though you will see at least one couple in the corners of a hallway “locking lips.” –Alex

“When I see a couple standing there holding each other I feel awkward… and I feel awkward for them…” –Nate

Though we all have different opinions on PDA many of us can agree that when we see it we can’t help but look… - Alex

“I walk to my locker and the same couple is there every day, and yet every day I come around the corner and my eyes are glued. Not by choice but it’s something hard to ignore.” –Jon

But not only do we see these public displays of affection in school they seem to be in many other public places. For instance the Mall, a movie theater, or a park. - Alex

“I see it everywhere I go!” –Nate

Reactions vary from person to person. -Alex

“I like to try and make it awkward for them so they know what I’m going through… I will sometimes yell out things at them like ”Get a room.”” – Danny

“All I do is walk by and shake my head…” - Jon

The world is overwhelmed with acts of PDA, whether you are involved or just walking by. If you do it all the time maybe try to pace yourself, and if it’s something you are against maybe you could try it sometime. Reporting for the flash this is Alex. –Alex

Susan smith.

She murdered her kids. Lied about it to police saying they got kidnapped. But then confessed she did it. Sad to hear stories like this.

Passive and Active voice

I learned that there is a defference on how you say things and the impact they will have on others.
On the quiz I got 9/10. The one I got wrong was "The money was stolen" i still dont see how to change that..

Charlie Sheen

This time Charlie Sheen was swinging a machete on top of a roof shouting "Free at last, free at last!" He did this shortly after Warner Bros. cut him off air. He also started a twitter and set a world record for most followers in a day. In just 25 hours he had over one million followers. I think Charlie Sheen needs some serious help. However, its entertaining to read about.

Alien life

This article was about how a scientist found non-earth bacteria. They say it's very possible that life didn't even begin on earth it traveled here. I have always believed in extraterrestrial life forms. I also find it really hard to believe that NOTHING else exists in the universe.

High School Basketbal player dies on the court.

This story was about a 16 year old named Wes Leonard. He helped his team win and clinch an undefeated season. He made a lay up in the last seconds to put his team up by two. A minute or two later after they were all cheering and walking off Leonard collapsed. I thought this story was really depressing.

Northwestern University Professor Defends Explicit Sex Toy Demonstration After Class

This article was about a professor who decided he would show and demonstrate the human "kinkiness" that some people have. His best way to demonstrate to have a girl from a sex toy tour show come into Northwestern University. There is a lot of people who disagree with that demonstration deeming it "inappropriate". I do agree with that also. I don't think there was really a need to show that. Instead they maybe could've watched a video or something. I thought this was interesting .

Interview Topic

Budget Cuts

Officials in the Rosemount, Apple Valley, Eagan School District are looking to cut $3.5 million from the district’s budget for next school year. They are going to increase the price of sports, now to play foot ball or hockey it will cost $185. Focus meetings will be held on March 8 and 9 to allow residents and employees to discuss the current recommendations with district officials.
Luckily for myself I will be out of this school district! I have heard a lot about this. How the class sizes will increase a lot because a handful of teachers are getting cut/laid-off. I think its sad that this has to happen. Especially in a school district that excels in academics and also sports for that matter.

Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris Set Wedding Date

They are supposed to get married on June 18th. Hugh Hefner is 84 years old and Crystal Harris is 24. He proposed to her on Christmas of last year. I really had no reason why i read this article. I kind of just randomly picked one.
It was an okay story. Nothing to exciting to me. I don't think age matters but 84 to 24 is a big stretch.. hopefully it all works out for those two.

Wisconsin Power Play

This article was about a protest in Wisconsin. The current "new-union busting" governer compared this to Cairo in Egypt. That got people even more upset. Long story short it was a lot about unions and how they were trying to break them down.
I thought this article was kind of boring and I couldn't relate to much. However I did read an article about Cairo and the protests. A good handful of this text was harder to understand due to wording AND how non-interesting to me. I think that they shouldn't bust down the Unions because it is a part of the U.S.A. and there is other ways to resolve this.

SPLC's

Thank you for using the SPLC's Test Your Knowledge of Student Press Law. You answered 16 of 30 questions correctly.

This test was sooooo much fun. I learned so so soooo much. I'm amazed! I should grow up to be a very smart man.

SPLC Pre-test.

Thank you for using the SPLC's Test Your Knowledge of the First Amendment. You answered 21 of 30 questions correctly.

To be honest I just got lucky with a lot of these. I knew a few, but some were complete guesses that I got right. I leanred that the fourth amendment makes it so we can't get stripped searched in school. "You're on your way. Before you make plans for law school, however, how about a nifty "cheat sheet" for your wall?"

How Could IBM's Watson Think That Toronto Is a U.S. City?

IBM's Watson computer thought Toronto was a U.S. city. Watson is a computer who is on jeopardy he was dominant until the last question. Basically they just went over how Watson thinks and he is never sure of an answer. He bases off of statistics. It finds enough evidence to conclude its answer. I am still impressed by Watson and the ability it has. I want one for myself. It is crazy how smart we can make computers now. Kind of scary.

Tiger Woods fined for spitting in Dubai

On Sunday Tiger Woods was fined for spitting on hole 12 of the Dubai Desert Open. He had just missed a par putt that would now put him 3 over 75. Mike Stewart reviewed it and said that there was a code of conduct breach. They said they have also spotted him doing it one other time this tour. I personally don't think it's that big of a deal. however, I see where they are coming from. It is disrespectful and maybe the person after him would have to putt over his spit.

Syria media watch dogs; Internet users say Facebook, YouTube available for first time in 3 years. They are deciding to lift the ban on these socail websites. Tuesday the sites were accessible for the first time in years without having to tunnel through proxy servers. I honestly don't really know why I read this article it was nothing exctitng. However, I'm happy for all the people over there. Maybe someday I can connect and become friends with them.

Second Blizzard

This article was about a second blizzard hitting Tulsa, OK. A blizzard there is rare enough but two? Last week they got a total of 14 in. I don't know if its really all that bad. I mean we are so used to snow here and that blizzard wasn't all that big of a deal. But Oklahoma sees' less snow than we do. I kinda wish we had even more snow but warmer temperatures.

College Coach Donates Kidney to Baseball Player

This article was about how a Baseball coach for Wake Forest University (Tom Walter) gave his kidney to one of his players who obtained ANCA vasculitis. The boy who needed the kidney named Kevin Jordan was a freshman and was supposed to play for the New York Yankees but instead he decided to go to college.

To me this article was inspirational. Usually you don't hear about this kind of stuff but it's a nice change. Tom Walter is a brave man who shows he is passionate and he is dedicated to his team. I feel like if I were in Walter's place I would hesitate but in the end I think I would have made the same decision.

Doritos Finger Sucker Commercial

This article was about the Doritos ad where this guy love the cheese left on your hands from Doritos and asked a guy if he could have some. The other guy said they were all gone, but then the finger licker said you still have the best part. Then, he starts to suck on the other guys fingers. Later on he goes and rips off someones pants and starts to smell them because he wiped his "Doritos hand" on his pants.
I liked this ad a lot. I thought it was pretty funny. Also the actor was good, I don't think I could havedone that.. but that's probably why im sitting in this class journaling about it..

It's good to be a Smith kid

This article was all based on Will and Jada Pinketts Smiths children, Jaden and Willow Smith. Basically it was talking about how they are so young and already so successful. Jaden starred in the movie "The Karate Kid" and Willow has her hit "Whip my hair". Jaden is 12 years old and Willow is 7. Some people are saying that they are way too young to already be in the spotlight. I sort of agree with that but at the same time if they can handle all the fame good for them. I mean they have already been dealing with a Hollywood life since the moment they came on to this earth. I thought this article was kind of interesting. It mostly just talked about them and their good lives. It made me jealous that they are that talented and are already famous at such a young age. However, I am happy for the life I am living.

U.S. woman tells of Cairo's descent into 'hell'

This story was kind of boring to me because I can't really relate to it. However, it made a good point on how this woman named Lisa Roscoe from Los Angeles was a good target demonstrating western influence on Egypt. She was then urged to leave by her husband Hany Eissa. I think he made the right choice on having her go back home to cool it down but at all went down hill. He ended up staying there to protest. If I was ever in his position I would've done the same thing.
