NOTES ON NEWS
Define “Broadcast Journalism” in 1-3 sentences.To air instantaneously (T.V., Internet, smartphones.) journalism of current events.
To report current events around the world.

List and describe the six criteria of newsworthiness.TITLE DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE1. Unusualness: News is the different, the unusual, out of the ordinary.
Ex: church roof collapsed.
2. Significance : Important events that effect a lot of people.
Ex: Taxes, Elections, Wars, & Economy

3. Timeliness: Old news is not news, it's HISTORY.
Flood news now not later

4. Proximity: People want to know about NEARBY things.
Ex: local gang activity.

5. Prominence: When well known people, buildings, or places are involved that is news.
Ex: If Zac Efron is arrested.

6. Human Interest: Stories about ordinary people or animals, humorous or dramatic.
Ex: heart-warming or wrenching stories.
